EVERHUB INFLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT APPLICATION & BRANDING
Inflight Dublin had been developing a new wireless streaming inflight entertainment (IFE) application. The management team wanted to launch the product at an aviation event and wanted to create unique branding for it. I was tasked with overseeing the design team in the creation of a new brand, user interface, and communication materials for the product launch within a 4 week window. Whilst also managing the design teams existing client workload.
THE CHALLENGE
With such a short timeline I new it was important to ensure the brief was clearly defined by senior management and that this was communicated effectively to the design team.
The challenge was to reflect through the brand and brand language the wide range of passenger services available in this one innovative application while communicating the potential for revenue generating and the end user features for the airline.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
2 members of the design team developed a concept each and a final concept was chosen by the management for completion and roll out.
The next challenge was delivering a new branded UI/UX for the application and a complete marketing roll out. I put together an ambitious and detailed schedule with agreed timelines and deliverables and we got to work.
UI/UX
The team translated the branding through to the Everhub UI through the use of colour, typography and linear iconography. Users can easily explore or navigate through the range of services through 4 key menus Discover, Entertainment, Inflight and Destination services menus.
During this stage of the project I reviewed the project on a daily basis providing feedback and guidance at all points of development. Here my main role is the help the designer to enhance the project where possible.
I ask the designers to challenge their design decisions. I help the design team to review their design and seek out areas to refine and polish before key presentations stages. I equate it to adding the final magic dust to a design to really make it sing. The design team had created an amazing brand design. I was there to help them find ways to enhance it and make it work harder.
MARKETING MATERIAL
As part of the Everhub product launch, the following key marketing materials were designed by the team:
1. Website
2. Motion Graphics
3. Brochure
4. Print and digital advertisements
MAKING THINGS HAPPEN
I was also responsible for maintaining the momentum of a project. Ensuring that the designers met their milestones and that we delivered the various marketing assets as per the agreed schedule. I also acted as liaison between departments to ensure clear communication and cooperation.
PROJECT SUCCESS
The project was a success in a number of ways. We had created a dynamic brand that translated well across all required touch points from digital to print. We met our tight deadline and the company was able to launch the Everhub product at the Airline Expo with all required marketing collateral. The long term and ongoing success has been the redevelopment of the Everhub product for numerous airline clients.
